    WIRELESS ADVERTIDING

Exclusive interview with companies working on wireless advertising.

    INTERVIEW

How are these wap ads shown on the screen of the wap-enabled terminal and how are they received by the user? ?

    • Firm: Windwire

There are many models that are now being tested. As just a few examples: Via a relationship with a carrier, an ad could be shown, for example, when a phone number is being dialed and connected. If a user is browsing content on the wireless Web, an ad related to the context of the content could be embedded in the article.

If a user asks to have content pushed to them, for example, an alert that a stock has gone down, the content may appear with a logo and the words, "sponsored by x." As mentioned earlier, WindCaster will serve the richest media possible specific to the type of device.

    • Firm: eFuzion

The ad will be permissively received by the user on their handset via SMS or WAP.

    • Firm: Regisoft

The e-coupon offering is shown in a list form, users simply have to choose which e-Coupon is of interest. When using a WAP-enabled device, e-Coupons are stored on the World Trade Server(tm) under the subscriber's account and not physically downloaded to the handheld device.

This is because of the limitations of WAP 1.1 to write to the SIM and store data. However, it is possible for a subscriber to transfer the e-Coupons to another subscriber via the World Trade Server(tm) (if granted by the vendor). The user receives the offer for an e-Coupon either by the vendor “pushing” it to the customer via SMS or by the customer “pulling” or requesting it - found by surfing or email.
